Hot Pancake Breakfast!!

OOhhhhh... tastey.

Yesterday (this has been a draft for a few days, so "yesterday" was Sunday morning) I set out of the house at around 8:00 AM. The plan was to ride the bike, eat some pancakes, sausage and then head to work. I will have you know, that in VT there is no such thing as time and a half on Sundays. Sundays here are just a regular ol' day. I wish I had known this fact before I openly volunteered to work the short day. That's what you get for not doing your homework I guess.

Either way the bike ride was incredible, again. I floated around some rural farm land roads, passed some hippies on an old bike in the middle of nowhere, which at the time didn't seem that odd, but thinking back on it... well I'm not really sure how I feel about it.
Great ride, doing some bike driving through the country, found some GREAT dirt roads. The secret apparently is to ride the dirt roads in the winter, because then they are FROZEN. Frozen dirt is fast dirt and fast dirt is fun.
Needless to say, I had a blast, a huge shit eating grin on my face, and it wasn't until I stopped to send a message to Ali to let her know I was running a little bit late that I realized just how cold out it really was. 20. Yup, 20 degrees in the morning. RAD. Didn't phase me though, the ride was too good. So I quickly put my gloves back on (snowboard mitten with huge cuffs actually) and set off to find 1) Ali and 2) Hot Pancake Breakfast!!

When I got to route 7 (it's the equivalent to route 6 really, but it's 7 so it must be better) I could go north or south. Not being entirely sure which way the sugar shack was, I went right. Wrong. After a couple of miles I hit the town line for the town that hte sugar shack is NOT in. u-turn.
Abort!
I head back south. As I crest one hill I can see it in the distance. HUGE plumes of white silky steam. This can only mean one thing on a cold cold bright blue skied morning. Fresh maple syrup is being created before your very eyes. The folks that make the syrup are very proud of what they do and this is very cool because they will openly explain everything to you and do it with a smile. And I think that's exciting.
Anyway, I change in the car, and then we head inside.
Holy mega-line Batman!
We're on a tight time budget because we both have to work at noon and the line for the pancake breakfast is staggering. Well, we get in line anyway, snacking on cheese and sausage and maple spread samples all the way to the kitchen.
After 35 minutes or so we are there. Sweet sweet salvation in the form of pancakes, and maple sausage links, and maple sausage patties, and maple bacon and a cider doughnut!
How can you resist.
We forgot to grab a small cup of milk on the way to the dining room, but we survived at last.
And buy was it good.
The sun was shining super bright, there was some out of this world people watching to be done through the dining room window, and the breakfast was fantastic.
Perfect way to start the day, and then... off to work.

This week, look for the first 2008 race weekend report.
It's going to be a good one, I garuntee it.

That description had my mouth watering. Good thing I was eating lunch - otherwise I'm sure I would have had to eat SOMETHING.

Looking forward to the race report!

That sounds so good! Do you think I can convince Kipp to open a vegan sugar shack?
